Finally did it.

x-pipe mod is done damn this **** sounds serious. what a difference...like everyone has said..this is how these cars should have sounded in stock form. I did mine alittle different then everyone else i removed the secondary cats aswell. heres a ****ty pic with camera phone.

Is this going to be really LOUD! So LOUD that you can't hear yourself talking is way to loud for me.
I hope the car don't end up losing HP due to lack of back pressure and getting smoke by a Honda, that would be embrassing

Beside I don't want to scare the little kids and old people on my street. they might throw eggs at my car

Not even close! This sound is a very subtle grumble and you can't even tell at idle. Once you get on the pedal is when you hear the amazing sound which is very mild, not aggressive at all! I believe these cars should come from the factory without the resonators. All the resonators do is restrict flow and sound which sucks!

But yours is an E63 so I wouldn't be able to tell you how yours will sound.

Jimmy, what about back pressure, does that effect any top end or bottom end performance?

I use to have a 2003 M5 and I have a Active Autowerk cat-back and I removed the pre-cat and resonator. Sound great but I lost alot of top end performance. I didn't know about until I race another stock M5. Once we hit 120mph he blew pass me like i was standing still. I floor it and it was accelerting very slow threw the high RMP band. Put back my factory muffler and notice a big changes right away.

SO be careful, it may sound good but it might be bad for your car.

Resonators are not responsible for back pressure.( at least not for w210 55). Now 2ndary cats are different story. With this particular mod all that should be removed is the resonator which is being replaced by an X-Pipe. Although the debate about the effectiveness of back pressure on top end engine perforrmance is still and ongoing one.

I talked to the people at Active Autowerk in Maimi and they told me it not a good idea to have a free flowing exhaust unless you turbo or supercharge it. They told me every nonforce induction BMW that have free flowing exhaust they saw a lost in HP & TQ on their dyno meter. and something about hole in your pistons which lost me
