Value - Feeling a bit philosophicial

Well the old beast 2002 E55 w/47K miles was in the shop for almost 2 weeks and my loaner was a 2007 C230 sport with 13000. While the C230 is probably a good car at its price point, it kind of amuses me that it's PPV is about $23,599 (edmunds.com) and my relic only appeals to consumers with somewhere around $21,425.
I don't see how any driver could possibly pay more for a newer, but so much less capable/comfortable and fun (powerful) car - only very slight advantage I saw the C230 was slightly (ok, maybe more than slightly) better fuel economy.
OK...on second thought, maybe if they have a small parking area....

Why did you get an E55 over an M5?

Personally i have been in love with the E55 since it came out in 2003, and I am finally the proud owner of 1... but i wanted to know why you guys chose the E55/63 over the M5.

Thanks

06 E55
from my point of the view it is economy that plays a big role. Many e55 is just impossible to sell even bellow any kbb/edmunds or whatever it is.

Simply emotional feelings

are the reason I chose the E55. Prior to the E55, the previous new car had been a 98 M3, and while it was fun to zip around in and never gave me any "issues"...I never bonded with it the way I had with Benz's in the past (albeit non-performance model E300 and 400SEL). So, the M5 really never got any serious attention from me. I will admit that the new M3 model has intrigued me a bit...but not enough to go to the dealer.

'04 Silverado Z71 - sold all my Benzes and need another!
I just sold mine but from what I gather, I think people are mislead and feel that the gas mileage is rediculous on these cars. Personally I think that's BS because I was getting around 23-25mpg on the hwy all day long, even with my mods (maybe those helped). Regardless, this is my all time favorite W210 and the only reason I sold it is because I trying to jump on another deal that is too good to pass up and needed to free the funds. It's unfortunate that these cars take such a hit but those that are in the market for one are coming up on some great deals. Such as the guy who bought mine which I assume will surface as soon as he gets her home to Boston...

2000 W210 E55// 2007 Toyota Tacoma X-Runner
I was in Germany for 5 months where I had the pleasure of driving a W204 C220 CDI Sport for 5 months (the new C class) I really kinda fell in love with it. It gave me a steady 40mpg, had plenty of torque down low, and would do 140mph all day long on the autobahn. The only problem I had with this car, so MUCH PLASTIC...plastifc everywhere. But for a everyday driver it was fantastic! I would surely buy one if they imported this C class with this motor to the U.S. You can't get the diesel here though. When I returned home...that car couldn't compare to my W210 E55. I only saved on gas, but man is our car cumfy, powerful, the AMG leather is first rate, braking was so much better, but the fact remains when the W212 comes out our cars will probably be in the $8-12K range...really a pity considering what we have.

Some people just want to drive Benz and the C230 is all they can afford. It still a "Mercedes Benz" I'm sure if we all won the Millions dollar Lottery we wouldn't be driving a Benz. Me I'm getting me a freaking Lamborghini Murcielago roadster! : Until than I'm happy with my E55
