Newbie with 2002 E55 AMG
Hey everyone, I just wanted to introduce myself... I just got an E55 up in New Hampshire... and man it is a real upgrade from my Volvo with its sad little I4. I'll be moving this summer so I'm looking forward to getting the car away from the weather and roads up here. Anyway, I've been lurking around while contemplating my purchase, so thanks to all of you who have answered many of my pre-purchase questions.
I'll put up pictures soon.. I think first orders of business will be a resonator delete/X-pipe addition, and then I'll have to do something about the stock Blose sound system, even one 10" sub would help that thing a lot. Any suggestions on where to get a good deal on these things? Ebay probably? Thanks a lot, and I'll post some pictures soon.

OK sorry that I have not put up the pics yet... I've been wicked busy at work and we don't have enough sunlight up here yet. I promise they'll be up this weekend. That being said, I did come across a minor problem today. My rear sunshade, which worked the two or three times I tried it before I bought the car, no longer works.
When I push and release the button, I can hear a faint "click" come from the sunshade area and that's it. Then, it worked up and down exactly once, and hasn't worked since. My first inclination was that the button is faulty, but the it seems like there is a contact because I can hear that click. Any thoughts? Not like this is the biggest deal in the world, but I am kinda sorta OCD about these sorts of things.

Oh yeah, and the car is awesome I tore apart some rice burner off the line the other day, and highway driving is so effortless. The other day I was driving nice and regular, just going to work... I put my foot down to pass someone like I used to do in my Volvo, the car pulled me back, and when I looked down I realized I was going almost 90!! I just have to try really hard to not get pulled over now

Here she is.... totally stock for now, but I really like the two-tone. There are a few specks of dirt on it still... It was 50 degrees yesterday, and I was planning on washing the car today, but that plan was canceled by the several inches of snow that came out of no where.

Baron,
Congrats, great looking car, you will love it even more as the days go by.
I have the same interior which I love but my car is Obsidian Black .
The rear sunshade is typical, a lot of us have had this problem, mine started a bit already. as to the X pipe, greatest bang for the buck. I recently did mine together with the Mandrel bent pipes and got rid of my secondary cats also, allowing to install the Xpipe closer to the downpipes , an I love it. I am in the process of redoing the whole audio system, keep an eye on my thread for that, the problem with a 10" sub is where to locate it, it would only fit in the trunk, unless you do some major cutting into the rear shelf .
Welcome to the group.

I good location (anyone chime in) is a sealed enclosure in the corner of the trunk. Some have integrated a fiberglass enclosure using the LR corner carpet shell as a base and added layers of fiberglass and a front face. That setup I currently run for a 12" unit and sound very nice. In addition it looks clean. Downside, you have to like being creative and be a DIY'er...

Congrats, on your purchase. I just pulled the trigger myself but, it looks like it will be about two weeks getting here from California via truck. Can bearly wait, getting out of the Mini Cooper into a real super car. Hey, getting chill bomps. Some body tell me more about the X-pipes and removing the resonators.

Jimmy , I went ahead and finally got the Xpipe done, thanks to you, Dawson and Omey! I actually removed the secondarys which allowed me to push the Xpipe further toward the downpipes, shed few extra pounds, and the car sounds amazing ! Cheers.

Where are you located? I was worried about removing the cats due to smog emmissions...I'm glad you like the sound, I think the car should have come that way from the factory. It sounds perfect now doesn't it!
