Touch Shifter Too Sensitive
The touch shifter for manual shifting in my 2000 E55 has always been WAY too sensitive. I expressed it to the steeler even shortly after I bought it but was told it was normal. It used to be if I stared it hard enough it would upshift. Now it's to the point that if I'm even taking a turn quick enough with my hand off of the shifter it will upshift all the way to D in an instant. It's pretty annoying for sure. I've heard the only fix for this is to replace the shifter module and that it's roughly a $1k job. Are there any other solutions to fixing this? If I should need to replace the shifter module, is it a DIY?

yes, you will need an esm. electronic shift module. i have never tried to repair one and they don't sell parts for the internals seperately. you can diy, it should only take about an hour or so and you don't have to lift the car. good luck.
