First Post, Have a Couple of Questions...
Hi, all. I bought a black 2002 E55 two weeks ago. Of course, I'm smitten.
I want to do some of the maintenance myself, e.g. change the oil, replace spark plugs, etc. I'll most likely use Mobil 1 0/40 as that what she's always had. The car has had all of the service done at the same place, but I can't seem to find the last time its plugs were changed. I would like to change the plugs today. This is where you all come in. What plugs do you recommend I use?
Also, I'd like to make some mods that look tasteful and are rather inexpensive, i.e. under $2000. What would you suggest? Can you suggest any online retailers that offer high quality tasteful mods?
Thanks, fellas.
Brad

I recently did some of the same stuff you want to do, I went with Denso IK16 plugs and Magnacore wires. Bought the wires from http://www.directtuning.com/store/ and the plugs from http://www.ltbmotorsports.com/
As far as cosmetics, so far I've only done a hood emblem and smoke side markers from Ebay - under $100 for both.

dont be cheap, get OEM parts. Go to the dealer, say you work for so and so automotive and if you have a friend at a shop it makes it easier, get the cost price (most guys will help you out).
as far as a mod goes, I would put some new rims on there, change up the exhaust, throw an xpipe on there.. eisenmann exhaust sounds really good on these cars, although the AMG one is fine. You could also supercharge it, but thats really stupid in my opionon...
enjoy.

E55.....AMG
stick with stock plugs as you wont see any difference in any another plugs.
cheap mods are...
k&n filters x2
removing the resonator will make it sound like a real V8 without being too loud.
personally i would recommend just fitting 2 straight pipes and not the x-pipe mod in place of the resonator.
the reason being that there is a cross-over in the backbox already so the x-pipe is not needed IMO.
I have ported(smoothed) my airbox by taking out all the plastic ridges to help with airflow and i reckon Ive gained a few bhp with it, certainly feels alot smoother anyway

If you are going to stick with OEM plugs they are NGK and I think the part number is PFR5G-11 (Laser Platinum), or at least they look the most like what came out of my car.
