Cracked window

Has anyone ever had to do this before on thier E55? My concern is that it was put together or put on by professionals at AMG and now has to be replaced by a dealer. I've changed windshields on other cars before with no problem, but none on a car as well built as this one.
Also is there anything I should I do maintenence wise since I now have access to the dash (i think)?

1- Most decent insurance companies have a Zero deductible on Windshield and glass ( Check with your insurance it is safety issue ) . Problem is:
2- Most of them dont tell you that you " should " use or try to get you to sue their list of suppliers/ installers! You dont , I have state Farm and I insisted that my windshield come from Mercedes. ( Dont worry, your dealer or reputable MB indy will know how to locate or order you a genuine MB glass) . You wont believe it but there are several other suppliers for windshield. I insisted that mine ONLY come from Mercedes. Basically when you use one of the installers on their list, you wont have to pay anything, if you go on your own, dealer or other MB reputable , you might have to pay then get reimbursed , Thats what I did, I went to my trusted INDY and he took care of it, windshield is exactly the OEM.( Make sure that the invoice has nothing else on it but the Windshield, and you should be reimbursed 100% just call your agent first and prep them for it.
3- DONT accept anyone telling you they can come to your house and do it, thats not the way to install it, only reputable people will tell you that you have to drop it off, then pick it up at least a day later, the adhesive used must have enough time to cure and must be applied indoors to cure correctly.
4- Remind whoever does it that your car has rain sensors !
Best of luck, happens to the best of us, just dont wait too long, the crack has a way of spreading!

im getting some work done on mine and had the same problem just before i put it into the garage. Since the jobs being done are taking some time i though I'd shop around. I found (Although I don't know if it's true) that the E class W210 windshields are all the same size, from 350's to 430's. All you have to do is pick it up from either Mercedes or another dealer. Although, if you get a standard E windshield, you'll need to get one with the rain sensors, or from an Old E that had full options with those sensors.
Can anyone confirm this, just need to know that a windshield from a 430 with rain sensors will fit on my E55 .I'm going to pick up a windshield this weekend.
