Cool Does 1999 e55 have touch shift

A couple of questions for the MB faithful. Does the 1999 e55 have touch shift. Also, does the 1999 e55 have 'independent 5-arm multilink with coil springs' and what about 'Bilstein gas-pressurized shock absorbers'? Looking at a 1999 e55 but want to make sure for about the same money (about $2-4k more for 2000) I am not missing something performance-wise. So...how much better is 2000 to 2002 than the 1999 model. I like the facelift the 2000 got but like the 1999 look also. On the otherhand is there anything about the 1999 that is better than the later models? Lots of questions...but I know you guys have the answers..?

No touch shift in 1999. Not sure but I think it has the independent suspension and the Bilsteins Performance wise is all the same 1999-2002.
I am happy with my 1999 and it was the first year in the USA. Lots of people like the post facelift. It's just preferance. Good luck

Any well-maintained and clean w210 E55 will have you all day long...
And perfomance-wise... both versions are pretty much the same.
As an example, here is a simple compare & contrast to differentiate... aesthetically... hope it can hep you in any way possible.

1999 E55__________________________________________________ ________________________2001 E55

Interior differences for the face-lift version: perforated leather seats, steering wheel w/ controls, instrument cluster & multi-function display, + and - Touchshift...

Thanks for response

This is exactly the information I was looking for. Pictures are perfect for comparison. Story for you...bought a 1999 today..got on internet and came across a 2001 with same mileage (73k) for 2k less (12k) than what I paid (14k). Both are in absolutely perfect shape. Mine is silver has black guts. The 2001 is about 150mi from my house and there hasn't been another one in my nieborhood for months...go figure. Anyone interested it is in Seattle. I like the 2001 facelift better by the way.

The touch shift is slow witted and not that great to use by the way.

You're not missing much.
