MPG
. Since my recently traded 2002 530i sport got a solid 27mpg, I wanted to see how the AMG compared.
So I drive about 100 miles per day, 50 each way. On my way to work, I got 20 mpg's babying the car going about 60mph. On my way home, I got 24mpg's driving at a normal pace between 70-75mph.
Not sure what you are getting, but seems the AMG needs to be at about 2800 rpms in 5th to get it's best mpg figures.
) and mpg would slowly drop...In high school and part of college, my Porsche, ok VW/Porsche... a '74 914 2.0 did the same thing... At 55 in 5th, mpg SUCKED bad...less than 20 mpg. At 75mph it got 31mpg regularly back and forth between L.A and S.F. I think it's just good old German engigearing

Trying to tell an officer that I REALLY could not afford to go slower than 75 did not reach receptive ears....and my friends NEVER believed me...convinced it was an excuse to hammer it...those good ole Germans gotta love 'em
I wonder if Germans put their teeth under their pillow when they are kids hoping the Gear Fairy will come and leave them a really sweet equation for Ve efficiency:p

on a few road trips, i cruise at about 85 or so, i typically get about 25-26mpg
i don't romp on my car at all though, so take that in consideration.

What really surprised me was my ML500 which on that same mixed mostly highway trip gets as high as 21.5mpg, but I have to keep the speeds down to about 5mph over the speed limit to see that.
