Oil Filters?

When I checked out the oil filter selection for E55's there were two types, regular and a "fleece" one. Both are made by the same reputable company (Mann).
What's the difference and which one should be used?
Thanks!

The Best one to use is the Fleece type...

I Think at Mercedes the Fleece oil filter is the only one sold...
as the last six I Bought were all Fleece filters from the Dealer

as the three cars I have all use the same oil filter 209/210/211

Thanks for the info.
I'm kinda surprised more folks didn't chime in on this one since the parts source I used has all kinda of filters both fleece and non-fleece.
Also, didn't seem like there was much info on this when I did a search.
But good to know I should go with the fleece filter.

The fleece filters perform much better over the course of 10000 miles.

Well, remember that the scheduled service interval of 210s is 10-14000 miles, depending on driving styles. A filter must hold up to maintain oil quality for that long. I have seen valve covers off of cars that have 85000 miles on them and have followed that interval with Mobil1 oil, and they look much cleaner than some(cough) domestics after 30000 with 3000 mile oil change intervals with conventional oil.
