99 model w210 e55 amg
normal opertaing temp on the e55 engine?
hi guys! just would like to ask about the normal operating temp of the engine of the w210 e55 amg 99 model. should it be on the middle of 80-90 or should it be on 80? or is it ok if it passes 90 on the gauge??? thanks so much

Hey, its ok if it flactuates a little between those numbers, depends how you drive etc.. hot days/traffic jams the temp usually goes up a bit, but goes down as you start driving.

What little I was able to find out regarding the W208 CLK radiator (should be the same specs as the W210), the thermostat opens at 80 C and the fan comes on at 90 C. So, the temp really should never be below 80 C when the car is fully warmed up. It will basically always be at or over 80, nothing to worry about. If you're going slowly, in traffic, or idling (no airflow over the radiator), the temp will go up to 90 before the fans come on to cool it back down. This is also normal. It's only if the temp gets well above 90 that you have an issue, as that means the fans are trying to cool the radiator but failing.
