last night I tried to use the speed ilmiter but it came up malfunction needs dealer attention, also the cruise control the same.

Anybody any ideas before I get whacked by my Merc garage?

Can you be more specific? What do you mean "use the speed limiter"?

It also threw an error code when you used the cruise control stalk?

my cruise control lever has a speed limiter function whereby you can set a top speed and the car will not go beyond that. good in built up area 30mph, for example. No error code it just reported a malfunction but it has now mysteriously cleared!

When this happens, does the car get sluggish? Like you push the pedal, but it doesn't accelerate for a few seconds, and even then, it's slow. But when you turn the car off and back on, it's gone?

not sluggish at all but does reset on turn off. Seems to happen when I have booted the car for fast acceleration

That's what I thought. I had a problem where I would floor it (specifically hit the switch at the bottom of pedal travel) and the car would go into limp mode. I also noticed that the cruise control would no longer work sometimes. I believe your problem is the same as mine in this thread, although our symptoms are slightly different:

For about $150 and 10 minutes to install, part W0133-1786802 is probably a good bet to try, if you can't find anything else.
