New TIRES

my 99 e55 is running the pilot sports 245 fronts/275 rears ,i need to replace them and wonder how wide i can go w/out rubbing, bottoming out or vrerating bump steer problems. also my cousin-races porsche supercup, told me to look at the Riken Raptor ZR's versus the Michelins. Anyone tried the Raptor?

Best bang for the buck IMO ($725 installed). They are mfg by Michelin and have an aggressive look. I logged about 10k miles on them but recently started to experience loud groan when breaking hard. Pretty sure it’s the tires due to wear. Same problem I had with the original Dunlops. They are also very noisy barreling into corners due to the design. Still have plenty of tread left tho and wear has been even. I anticipate getting another 10k worth of driving. Never had Pilot sports on this car so I can’t compare but they seem to be the gold standard if you can justify the price.

Everyone seems to be raving about these lately...

well after seeing the ratings and footprint I'm gonna order them, just wondered whats the MAX width, lwest profile I can go? Tires remind me of an intermediate rain tire IMSA type.

I would leave them stock size... you may risk rubbing if you go with anything else.

If you want more width, get wider rims.
