Has anyone chipped the E55 W210 model. Are there real power gains to be had or is supercharging the only way to go?

There is a company www.powerchipgroup.com that advertises 378HP and 414 lb-ft torque with 93 octane for $990.

Here is their pdf format fact sheet for E55:

www.powerchipgroup.com/datasheets/2/Mer0033.pdf

Anyone willing to try? You have to send them your E55 chip for reprogramming. They advertise a 1 day turn-around for USA.

Power Chip is also advertising a CLK55 chip tuning and listing more HP than the 'chipped' W210 E55. They rate the W208 CLK55 upgrade from 347 to 381. Strange!

I was trying to avoid that, but I was going to compare it to 1/4 mile times, may be I should not be lazy and dyno the car.
I'm still not sure this is the route I want to go, it sounds good but UPsolute's price is very good too ($450.00), they have a rep in Houston (no shipping for me), desicions, desicions.

Does anybody have any feed back on upsolute?

A while back, a few SLK guys did extensive before and after dynos of the upsolute chip for the 230 and they all got little/no gain and in some cases LESS HP. I don't know how accurate that is now, or for an E55 (granted the E55 and SLK230 are different beasts). Regardless, I'd highly recommend doing before and after dynos.

E55 KEV, thanks, that's an interesting site. Still exploring it - the FAQ's make sense. I'd want to hear from someone with direct experience before jumping in. Plus, my being in the UK makes for problems unless they have local representation. (It's an aussie company with a US presence)
Btw their website is at:

http://www.powerchipgroup.com/

You lost the group

More later!

More thoughts, like, what about reprograming the chip to standard when you sell?
Apparently the chip also delimits the car which is great, err, or not....so how fast is the W210 with 378 hp to go?

There's a testimonial from a Rob Week of LA who likes the chip lots at:

http://www.powerchipgroup.com/intera...asp?testid=998

Rob, if you're reading this can u give a pov?

OK, I had visited that site yesterday and it didn't have the testimonial, it was added today, I find that a little odd
One more question, who is Rob Week? Somebody we know at this forum???

Richandall, welcome, I hope to see you here often.

Yesterday I made a call to PowerChips, then the "Rob Week of LA" testimonal was added after I asked for references. Now that is strange and a coincident . No top end info was available.

LOL, I called them too!
I can't remember the guy's name I talked to, but he said he was going to send me some more info yesterday, I'm still waiting for that e-mail.

since they offer a 14 day money back guarantee, do a dyno before and after and see if the gains are there. if not, call them up and say you want your money back and show them the dyno printout. if anyone is in la, you don't have to deal w/ shipping since they're located in santa monica.

Your ability to understand the rest of the world's date conventions: 11/2/2003 = eleventh of February, 2003 in most non-US locales.

Time & Date Formats

Does this mean the MBWorld servers are located in the UK or what? Perhaps this site is run by an airline pilot? Or to pre-empt discussion about which US time zone to adopt? Btw did you know russia has ten time zones? Oh, and in arctica there are about 24 if you can find them. Does anyone understand how datelines work (I'm talking time here). I need answers, to this and many other imponderables, like will I notice what I get for spending $990 on a powerchip apart from a delimited car that won't run far if the romanians nick it (no 93 octane in transylvania) - Rich
