2 ways:

Either disconnect the battery for a few hours/overnight.

or

Supposedly, the following procedure works with any "drive by wire" vehicle _without_ having to disconnect the battery:

1. Make sure ALL of your doors are closed.

2. Turn the ignition key to the on (not start) position.

3. Press the gas pedal to the floor "kickdown" and hold for five seconds.

4. Turn the key to the "off" position (don't remove the key), then release the gas pedal.

5. Wait at least two minutes for ECU to reset.

Good luck!

If you disconnect your battery, you'll need your stereo code to turn it back on. If you don't have the code, you'll need to visit your dealer. If you have COMAND/Nav, you won't need a code, it's only for the standard 1 DIN units.

Long story short, if you're just trying to make the car drive smoother/faster, use the reset procedure above. This technically resets the TCU adaptation values, not the ECU, but it makes the car run better/faster.

Brake pedal reset only resets changes the transmission ECU have learned and does nothing for Long term learned fuel correction on these cars. Trust me i have done both many many times and the only one that resets all your setting to 0 is by disconnecting your battery for 1min or more. I have actually gained up to 50 hp after a reset but this was because something was out of tune in the ignition department so if car is running properly gain will not be as extreme but in most cases you will see a gain by disconnecting your battery.

And keep in mind that the car needs about 500-1000 KM to adapt after the ECU reset (disconecting the battery)
