engine swap for 01 W210???

I know this is probably a really stupid question, but can you replace the stock motor with a larger/more powerful one- say an 07 SL65 BiTurbo??? If there's a way- what are the other parts that would have to be changed also...and the total approx. cost of the job...parts included??? Just wondering

Anything is possible with an abundance of money.

You're looking at a lot of custom fabrication, custom engine/transmission management, wiring harnesses, suspension, exhaust, mounts etc etc. Hardly worth it.

Just buy a 2005 CL65 and be done with it. They're well priced with prime examples sub-pricaed between $40-50k.

Like they said above anything is possible...the good question is where would you find a cheap 65 Biturbo motor...LOL ...they sure don't have them lying around in Ebay..

You do realize you can make well into the 400s in HP naturally aspirated with just a few quick & easy mods. You already have a great engine, why you would want to get rid of that doesn't make that much sense. Furthermore the cost of doing the engine swap will cost more than the car and it will not help resale value at all so you are essentially taking a massive hit. IF you own your own oil producing country and your title is "sultan" or "prince" ... then yes haha. Otherwise just stick with your current setup and mod it .

well into the 400s

I have a 99 E55.

I did not realize that a header, pully an ecu would bring the horsepower into the 400s.

You can state how much each mod would add horsepower wise.

Thank you.

With Headers, Pulley, Stage 2 ECU, high flow cats & K&N filters you are in the low 400s. TQ is around 430+. It does require every NA mod pretty much but it is possible and not that expensive. All together those parts add up to are less than $2500, so its not nearly as expensive as people think to get decent power NA, it just requires the "full package" to extract the cars true potential.

installing

Thank you for the quick response.

My biggest concern is installing.

I am not sure I trust my mechanic to do something like this.

In the 3 years I have owned by car I have been lucky to only have had regular maintenace done on the car.

Thank you.

Try to find a local speed shop. Then see what they drive personally. I think I'd rather have someone that loves cars and doesn't know Mercedes than the other way around. Especially for something fairly straight forward like a header install. You can always print DIY instructions off the internet and hand it to them so they have a guide.

With regards to our headers install. its pretty straight forward, 8 nuts on the head flange, two bolts on the exit flange. The rest is just maneuvering the stock ones out and the new ones in, but as far as header installs go, its definitely the simplest & easiest solution on the market compared to long tubes & etc.
