DEAD AMG E55
Anyone any ideas?

This morning when I started my 2000 Merc the ignition came on but it needed a couple of turns and then fired up. Now the ignition does not turn at all and the doors won't lock or unlock. Have put new batteries in the key fob, nothing, disconnected battery and reconnected and still nothing.

Sounds like the car battery is dead/dying. You can call Mercedes roadside assistance and they will come out and inspect the battery for free, regardless of the year of the car.

yeah call mercedes or you can bring the battery to Autozone and they can test it for you for free as well.

Its now in a Merc specialists. Battery fine, pinpointed it down to ingition barrel going down and or the keys as well!

It was the key, it had damp inside, British weather! anyway all up and running now -thanks for replies
