AEM FIC
hi guys! will the AEM FIC work on our car? will it be better than reflash chips? or power chips like kleemann, renntech, upsolute? will it be able to control ignition, air and fuel and alos timing? is it safe? and the most inportant thing is it bolt on? thanks!

I have not a clue what you are talking about... perhaps research it and let us know. Thanks!
Edit: Did a google search, took 2 seconds, here you go:
http://www.aempower.com/ViewCategory...CategoryID=116
You can read all about it by clicking on that link. It probably contains as much or more info than anyone on here has.
"Legal in California only for racing vehicles which may never be used upon a highway."
Basically what this thing looks like is a tune your own fuel delivery system. I have two words for you, Good Luck.
Additionally, they don't have an ECU Patch/Extension Harness for Mercedes application.

It takes about 2 hours to wire in to the factory MB harness on a V8 car and has a jumper harness if you which to get rid of the FIC and keep the ECU functions.
It is mainly for boosted applications as it does not have the ability to advance timing. It modifies the injectors 100% both ways, retards timing, can control a boost controller, mods the o2 sensors, maf, 2ndary MAP and can control two additional 0-5V sensors. With the 2 auxiliary 0-5V ports you can modify the AIT readings and advance the timing that way. On a bone stock E320 the FIC gets 20 more hp and tq out of the car without touching the timing.

It's not so many wires(you use about 29-31 of the 40 some odd wires) as it is just constantly rechecking your work so you don't have to go back later on a scavenger hunt because something isn't hooked up right.
Stock ECU functions are fully retained. It basically is a giant voltage regulator that adds or subtracts voltage from certain sensors. It does it in such a direct way the OBD and ECU functions have no idea it is there.

A flash is better since you have full control over the ECU but due to the stingyness of the Bosch ME2.x, ME7 and ME9 tuners; the average MB owner can't flash his or her own vehicle. It's pretty sad.
Unfortunately the closest an average guy could come to tuning his own ride with a flash would be to buy a DimSport Race Evo flasher for more than half of what an E55 is worth and spend a month figuring out how to use it.
I don't have the wiring diagrams for the E55 but you'd be surprised to hear that your local library does. Some wires aren't as clear on the diagrams as others so a voltmeter and some common sense(IE looking at the wire color coming off the sensor and going to the ECU) are required sometimes.

Flashes are good for cars that are either close to stock or that fit a certain "profile" of modifications. Generally, with bolt on mods, a flash will work well.
Piggy back units (like the AEM) are good for heavily modified cars, cars that do not have "common" modifications, cars that are not naturally aspirated, and cars where you have the resources and desire to custom tune them.
I've used both. Flashes are good if you want to flash and go. Piggy backs are good if you need (and can) tinker with the car. Cars running aftermarket F/I can benefit from this.

Ok so yea....verified
99 CLK430 shares the same ECU harness since your 99 E55 uses the ME2.0 ECU.

Just get a 24 hour subscription at Startekinfo.com for $20 and get all info you need and print it. You will want to open up the fuel management diagram for the first year E55/E430 then select 'diagnostic' on the top bar to get the ECU pinouts.
Stock functions are completely unaffected.

Hi guys, am New at the forum and MB world also before i all the time had to tune JDM cars, seems like they are easy for tune and for wiring section also, at the moment i have one project in my garage, that is MB G320 before but seems like they change engine from E55 and swaped in this car, so work isnot done correctly and now am planing to wire FIC, could you be so kind and tell me from where to start searching ecu pinouts ? or anyone have done this before?
thanks in advanced
