INSTALLING THE FACTORY TRUNK E55 / AMG EMBLEMS

INSTALLING THE FACTORY TRUNK E55 / AMG EMBLEMS

This is for the 2000 - 2001 E55 W210 trunk emblems and if you need to place your factory emblems back on your trunk lid here is what you need to do. I just had my car paint completely re-finished, so I had to take measurements and make a templet due to the Mercedes Benz dealership body shop had no way of placing my emblems back on my car in the factory installed locations.

Starting with a trunk lid without any emblems E55 & ///AMG on it here is what to do. Get some 3M regular 1” masking tape off yellow color and blue 3M painters tape I used the 1.5” wide roll. Also you will need a small can of paint prep wax remover. Clean the area where the E55 and the AMG mounts to the lid. Now your ready for placing the blue tape down and outlining the emblem installation area.

The first emblem we will start with is the E55. Here are the areas we will cover around the E55/AMG; The small ridge spoiler on the top rear of the trunk lid we will call (TOP), the left side of the E55/AMG we will call (LEFT SIDE), the right side of the E55/AMG we will call (RIGHT SIDE) and the bottom of the E55/AMG we will call (BOTTOM).

E55 Left side on trunk:
Take your tape measure and measure LEFT SIDE from edge of trunk lid inward toward MB Star 1.3/4.” From the TOP small ridge spoiler on the top rear of the trunk lid measure 3” over the E and 3.1/8” over the last 5. Now at BOTTOM under the E is 2.5” from E to top of taillight lens. Use the middle 5 for correct measurement. Now what I did was make a box where the E55 emblem will go into the center of this box. Now once you have all the tape laid down you have this opening where the E55 will be placed clean it with a paint prep wax remover. Take your factory E55 emblem and lay it flat on your trunk lid with factory wax paper covering the back 3M adhesive. Then take a piece of 1” masking tape the length of the E55 with a 1/2” leader on both sides. Now pull it firmly and line it up over the top of the E55 and move slowly down onto the E55 (keep the tape firm and when completely down on emblem run your finger over each letter and number to help keep it from coming off until it is fully mounted to the trunk lid). Now peel the back protective wax paper off the back of the E55 hold both ends of the 1” masking tape leader firmly and line it up over the blue taped box that you have previously made. when it looks straight and centered in box mount it to the trunk lid. press firmly over each letter E, 5, 5 and then slowly pull off the outer 1” masking tape. This side is complete remove all the tape. Now go to the AMG right side of the trunk.

AMG Right side on trunk:
Take your tape measure and measure RIGHT SIDE from edge of trunk lid inward toward MB Star 1.3/4.” From the TOP small ridge spoiler on the top rear of the trunk lid measure 3.5” over the ///A and 3.1/4” over the G. Now at BOTTOM between the A & M is 2.5” from A & M to top of taillight lens. On the RIGHT SIDE BOTTOM under G measure 2.6/8” to top of taillight lens. Like before you now have all the tape laid down you have this opening where the AMG will be placed clean it with the paint prep wax remover. Take your factory AMG emblem and lay it flat on your trunk lid with factory wax paper covering the back 3M adhesive. Then take a piece of 1” masking tape the length of the AMG with a 1/2” leader on both sides. Now pull it firmly and line it up over the top of the AMG and move slowly down onto the AMG (keep the tape firm and when completely down on emblem run your finger over each letters to help keep it from coming off until it is fully mounted to the trunk lid). Now peel the back protective wax paper off the back of the AMG hold both ends of the 1” masking tape leader firmly and line it up over the blue taped box that you have perviously made. when it looks straight and centered in box mount it to the trunk lid. press firmly over each letter A, M, G and then slowly pull off the outer 1” masking tape. This side is complete remove all the tape. Now go wax the whole trunk area where you installed both emblems. Enjoy the correct factory placement of your Mercedes markings. Have fun.
