Highway Vibration

I've been experiencing a vibration at speeds above 55mph. I just had my wheels rebalanced but it hasn't gone away. I still have the bad shock up front but the steering wheel doesn't shake nor does anything shake while braking.

I feel the vibrations in the seat and center console.
I was wondering if it's the flex disc or could a bad motor mount have anything to do with it? It only vibrates above 55.

If it is the flex would it be the front, rear or both and how can I tell if they are bad?

Same here.

I'm going to be replacing a few parts (tie rod assembly, bushings, etc), hoping it helps. I'll post my results...

Check that the wheels are 100% centered on the wheel hub. I had that problem when i mounted my 19" wheels. And the problems was fixed by buying new center rings. Good luck

Hi. When I was changing my steering rack I noticed the front r/h lower suspension arm moving in its front bush assy. I have some vibes not noticeable all the time but I'm going to fill bush and arm stub full of heavy duty sealant before I change anything. It stopped my 1998 Range Rover front torque arms from clunking and passed MOT !!
Cheers, TED.

Mine is getting worse, I'm saving up for shocks, springs and tires, hopefully that'll cure it.

Jack the car and pull on the top and bottom of the wheel (rock it towards and away from the car). See if it moves or makes noise. Could be a wheel bearing.

did that last week, it was good, i did find that the little nut holding the rotors was loose, i secured those but didn't make a difference. The front end looks good, i've already replaced some worn front end parts.

The motor rocks a bit when you rev it, not too much. Although are you supposed to apply the brake and then hit the gas to see if the motor mounts are bad? When i did that, the motor didn't rock at all.

Also at highway speeds when the car is vibrating i throw it into neutral and it still vibrates. Would that tell me that the tranny mounts aren't causing the vibration?

If the vibration increases with vehicle speed, not motor speed, I would think it's probably not the engine mounts. Transmission mount, though, I'm not as sure the symptoms.

Hello lads. After going full throttle up to speed my engine would misfire cousing some horrile vibes. I had just bought car so fault was garage who overfilled oil (drained nearly 2 litres out !!) Seemed to cure it however once in a blue moon when I push it the car develops horrid vibes which stays when I go into neutral even at speed. If I stop switch off back on and go again it's OK. Weird, like it's electronic glitch that's causing it.
How's ur propshaft centre support bearing ?

You should be able to feel any significant wear or out of adjustment without jacking, just rock top of wheel in and out.

As embarrassing as this sounds had the same problem - only had the vibes over 65 - wife was in car and gave me the "oh S*&^ - this is going to cause a lot of money look". Stopped - started back up again - same vibrations over 65 - don't ask me why but I hit the E-brake release - vibes stopped immediately - no e brake light was ever on - never hit the e-brake

Well, it's not the tires, last night I put the stockers back on and it still did it this morning, less, but it's still there. Have to check the flex discs I guess, do suspension then alignment
