Newbie here...just a few questions about E55

Looking to purchase n 01, 02 E55. Should I bother with Ebay? Is there a mileage range I should stay away from? What should I expect to pay for one in good shape? Any additional information is much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

It's seems the price range is between 10k-15k. Depending on the miles and the condition of the body. The number one thing I would reccomend is a PPI "private party inspection". As for eBay I would stay away and personally go see and drive the car you plan on buying. Also take your time I looked at 4 of them and finally found a really nice one with decent miles and came back from my ppi with no problems for 9k.

do a search for "rust" and "reliable". after you've read all about the rust issues on the W210 you will see why it's not a good idea to buy one sight unseen.

these cars rust like tin cans and given the area you live in i would check every car very carefully for any signs of rust and if you get one, try not to drive it in the winter.

other common issues are:

motor mounts
MAF
transmission(if its been abused or not maintained, if both RUN)
RUST RUST RUST(body, exhaust, spring perches, and the rest of the car)
driver's side self dimming mirror(drivers side mirror leaks self dimming fluid and becomes unusable)
window regulators
SRS seat sensor pad
fan clutch
rattle in the sunroof inside panel
brake light switch
