Angry Rear trunk?

Where can I find one reasonably priced? And how involved is it to remove/replace it? Wifey backed into her SUV yesterday, and put a nice dent in it. Got one estimate ths morning and they want $2680 to fix it. Parts came up to $1471. Body Labor $432. Paint Labor $400, paint supplies $245 and the rest misc' and taxes.

Ouch! Don't feel bad my girlfriend closed the Garage door on my x S-Class put a nice scrap all the way down I was able to sale it as is. Your best bet would be to put a claim in. Bodyshops LUV to see a shiny Benzo pulling in $$$ automatic double price. Or your other option is to check out a few bodyshops and compare price.

I'm sure it won't be an easy DIY

You could probably replace it yourself, but not paint it. Shop around. You can find parts at junk yards, parts.com, etc. The parts quote you got seems high, the paint seems somewhat reasonable.

I think $600 to paint is fair, at least that's what I paid to paint a rear spoiler couple years back. The trunk lid itself is $680, but the silver trim on the lid which is good is $208, plus the emblems. Then the top center part of the bumper has a little scratch so that's like $400. And the tail lamp which seems fine to me, is $58 after market.

I'll get a few more estimates, and shop around.
