Differential Swap - Limp mode

Will swapping the final drive/differential for a different ratio cause the transmission software to go into limp home home? (Or are the W210s pre-super nappy TCU/ECUs)

Without reprogramming the TCU, swapping the rear diff to different ratio will trigger limp mode

Suppose that you changed the rear final ratio from 3.06 to 3.17 then you need to tell the TCU about that change. Otherwise the TCU will not recognize the change and think that the transmission is slipping hence the trigger of the limp mode.

Tuners with proper knowledge should be able to do this for you.
