Lumbar Control Seats

Hi everyone,

I seem to have developed a bit of a problem with my lumbar support system in the seats. On both seats, the air pump seems to have stopped working - it doesn't engage regardless of where the controls are set.

I'm thinking that since both failed at once, I'm looking at a fusebox related issue, but I wanted to put this out here before I take apart half the car to find the fuse I need, only to find out that it is getting power.... are there any other ways to test? Do both seats utilize the same single air pump, or are there separate pumps for both seats?

I can still move the seats with the power controls on both doors, in all directions - so seat positioning is unaffected...

Thanks in advance!

When you hit the button, do you hear a noise? The pump is behind the rear seat. There is one pump for both seats. Seat movement (front/back) is electronic. The Lumbar portion is from the air pump.

There is no noise from the air pump on either side when I manipulate the controls.

The electrics for the seat movement works on both seats. I hope this clarifies!

Sounds like the pump might be bad if there is no noise from the trunk/rear seat area. You might need to remove the pump and test/replace it.

If I'm not mistaken, doesn't the pump also activate the door locks? If the pump were to die, wouldn't the central locking system not function?

I don't know, but my central locking is working without issue... so maybe what I have is an electrical issue with the wiring harness/seating to the pump?

Update: My passenger seat is mysteriously working again, but no joy for the driver's seat...
