Well after owning this car for a week . Cant imagine what a e63 feels like to drive ..One day tho..
In the first week of owning this ride it feels like a dream .. so smooth . Once throughout the week as i was starting in cold morning .. The ingition seemed like it jammed , kept chuggin for like 5 seconds . pulled key back gave it a second and put key and fired right up ..
that was 4-5 days ago..
Today after riding wit my bro for about 45 min or so got it upto 130 <on clear open road> just cruisin after i came to a stop where we were seperating . I got out of the car to see how fast it got dirty after washing . It Just Cut off , the Engine .. tried restarting about 10 diff times .Nothing , had that seem sound like ignition was jammed as it was trying to start . popped the hood as if i knew what i was doing <yea right>. my little bro was tellin me hears a clicking noise from some part im hoping somone can tell me what it is .
I get out and look to what he was reffering to and wiggled it around had my bro turn the key and it fired right up. With Check Engine Light on .. Drove it home . cut if off restarted again Check Engine . turned key on off couple times without starting then restarted again and now no Check Engine Light . Kinda wierd i tell you . Anyhow can somone tell me what this part is so i know a little somthing when i take it to Mechanic to check the car out ..Thanks and sorry for long rant and if this makes no sense .. I did a couple searched and came across one sorta of similar sympton posting and they suggested CPS IIRC . I dont have a local inde mech that im familiar with and not in a rush to send it to the dealer. So , is this part suppose to make a clicking noise as the engine is idling ? thanks

Sound like you have a bad (CPS) crank position sensor and that a fuel tank evap valves you circle in yellow.

The valve often cause the CEL with 'evap' codes but my money is on the CPS.

 

if i run a scan with it throw codes for it ? are these fairly hard to change out mechanically .. the fuel evap valve looks like somthing i could do my self .. This morning car started fine and no CEL or anything like normal .

thanks alot man , have done numerous searches and didnt come up with these. well will get the codes checked before i actually replace it .After looking through previous owner service records , it showing that the CPS was replaced as of 11/08 .. local import parts store quoted me 111 for one and 88 for another saying theres 2 different number for this part ..

 

Sounds like CPS too, its a common weak point on our engines - relatively cheap and easy fix, no worries. Nice to see you're enjoying your car so far...

Also I'd advise Techron to clean out your fuel injectors and always use highest octane at the pump

*Get yourself a OBDII scanner / Diagnose yourself and post codes here.

Nothing but premium . use Shell V-power hi grade thought that might have made my engine stall at 1st.

Yea that motor didnt look that dirty last week before it left the PO .. after 1,200 miles though didnt expect it to get that dirty but i seen some cleaning needed in there .. How do you guys go about cleanin this AMG motor .. Doubt you can just pull up to a self car wash pop the hood and spray it down like normal cars ..Atleast wouldn't think so ..

 

Scanner showing P0335 code .. which said on the scanner CPS circuit .. I called local import parts store they had 2 diff ones for my year in stock . One for $115 and another for $88 .. How do i go about finding which one i need ? If i search online will ithave to be specifically for a 2001 e55 or is it like a cross where other w210 will be using same part also .??

Man was sitting in the ride with a buddy just BS/ing with car idling .. after about 10-15 min the car just shut off on me .. wouldnt start back up again . He like you sure u got enough Gas .. LoL

Man you guys are a wealth of knowledge .Will try to tackle this with a buddy . He's no master tech but he swapped out his stage 3 s4 motor so im sure he be able to help me with this small of a part <I HOPE> lol

Haha that's funny.. W210 are very easy to work on. Did you buy a OBDII scanner? Check E-bay I bought a pocket one for like twenty big ones. I already used to diagnose my girl's car / changed out her Oxygen sensor and used it numerous times for friends. Retail I think was around $70

Got my CPS from autohauS. MAn $35 bucks and paid extra 15 for express ship. Seems Cheap for a benz . Also could not reach that damn thing for life of me so called around some places quoted me $130 -160 for install . Found a local place called Motorwerks . Benz specializing and just so happen owner are ex w210 e55 patriots . Anyhow they quoted me 110 so i said when . Took it in had to wait around 2 hours <ehh> . Then when my car was ready they stated CEL do i want scan for $47 . i declined tellin them i didnt have a CEL when i pulled in . After him explain to me that CPS wouldnt trigger a CEL i said that everytime my ride stalled out the CEL would show up but go away after off/on so many times .Any came out to $100 even so for 150 i feel it was worth it .. Also got a nice car wash with the service , not use to that . When i got in the car and left i looked at the old peice they left in the bag .. it seemed same as other except that it was covered with some type of metal shavings kinda . Cant really explain what it is .But not sure what could of caused it .I really feel had i cleaned it off as good as possible it would probably worked but its ok $150 to make my car stop stalling is nothing just glad that is all ..Found it funny how they tried to get me for a scan and after declining seemed a lil down like i should of agreed to it .. But thats what i got you guys for ..lol Not to knock the place though . Seemed very updated, Like a galleria of cars all kinda of benz's all over . btw..next time you get a CEL just go to AutoZone, they will scan it for FREE. They might not reset it but the scan is FREE.

 

if you're like me and hate that ticking noise from the evap valve, you can always buy a new one, the older it is the louder it gets, new ones are whisper quiet just fyi

 

Will look into it for sure .. Not really an issue .. Just was worried that ticking sounds might be a way of lettin me know its on its way out ..
