Need help with value of my 01 E55

Hello folks,

I've been contemplating selling my 01 E55 and was wondering what the value of the car is?

It's silver with Designio interior, Ipod link, nav, HID lights, (high/low/fog) 100k miles even and has some nice mods. Mods include, VRP package consisting of shorty style header, X-pipe, underdrive pulleys, ECU tune and W211 style air boxes. All stock pieces accompany car as well. This package ($4500) is said to gain 45 horsepower over stock.

Car runs great and has been trouble free. New front brakes and rotors at 93k miles. Has clean carfax and clean title. Paint has the usual paint chips up front for a 100k car.

Would $13k be a reasonable asking price?

Your asking price depends on regional variations. Some markets can support a 13k price, some can't...

I saw a supercharged '99 E55 sell recently for $13k... with lower miles than yours.

When I bought mine, I paid a significant premium, and I paid $12k. I paid that because I was fairly well assured that the car had been taken care of by somebody whose level of **** retentiveness far surpassed my own. I could have gotten an E55 of similar quality (but without the same level of reassurance) for $9.5k or so...

It's hard to justify that price, but... I've made the argument before that sometimes the right buyer will pay your price - but your product needs to be top notch.

Depends on how fast you want to sell it. I see it going for 9-11k.

Thanks guys.

Hard to believe that such an awesome car can be worth so little. I'm not certain that I'll sell the car at all. I think if the price was under $10k then I would just keep it around. My girlfriend likes the car a lot, maybe just give it to her at that point. I would however like to experience the W211 at some point. The thought of 500+ whp is very tempting.

Thumbs up

Keep it as a project car..... Not worth selling....Like others stated, unless you find the right buyer

My .55 cents

That's what I'm doing...

Age is very unkind to these cars...W211s which were flirting with a $100,000 price when brand new are now $25,000...sickening!

For $10,000 I would buy your car in a heartbeat, what happened to the factory monoblocks?

$13k is high but not imposible. Just post it in Criaghlist, ebay, forum classif section, you might find someone who just interest and pay that price.
You never know ! If you are not rush, why dont you try for 3 months with tone of pictures with all the mod you did.

You'd probably be better off money wise returning the car to stock and selling the mod parts separately. IMO, a nice stock car will appeal to more buyers than one that's been modded.

2001 E55 28764 original miles - seriously

Wanted to get a feel of what you guys thought would be a fair price on my E55.

This was my Garage Queen and I only took it out during the spring and summer.

I am the 3rd owner of this beast. When I first got her - she only had 19,000 miles on it. That was in 2004 (from certified MB dealer). Since then I babied this thing - Always had it in the garage with its own cover - And regularly took it out for her MB schedule service. It has never seen rain or snow.

My dad and I loved this thing. Unfortunately he passed away and I just never got the passion again to drive her out on a regular basis. I'd start her up every Sunday just to keep the battery and fluids circulating and spin the wheels in the garage .

Im in a situation now where I cant see myself paying for 2 garage spots - on a car I love but don't drive (sounds stupid I know).

If any of you mb brothers can give me an idea on what i can get for it - I would greatly appreciate it.

That's seriously low milage! as far as a sale price that is depended on you, start a thread and put up a number and see what happens.
What color is your e-55?

it is depressing how at 10 yrs old these cars just nose dive. I have a sweet 2000 clk430 convertible with 57K miles and i am lucky to get 12K. The older e55's nose dived when the 2003's came out. Still a very sweet car and just insane what they go for now.

Put it up for what you want; market it wide as possible. What is a good price? Whatever anyone is willing to pay. I paid $19k for a '99 E55 w/35k miles last year. Too much? Perhaps but not for me. It is the car I've been looking for for years. I spoke with original salesman, first owner and second owner (I'm the third). Everything checked out. The first owner (NYC stockbroker) babied it at his RI summer home. Second owner, an AMG collector who had it CPO'd prior to buying, put only 8k miles on it in 5 years; hadn't been in the rain since '04. Did I get ripped off? Depends on who you ask. Most importantly, I got the "exact" ride I've wanted for years with very few miles and great shape.

That's exactly right, PJ, and the most appropriate response I've heard on value for an enthusiast forum.

Sin Bull:

You have a very special E55 sitting in your garage right now at that mileage and what sounds like great condition. I think it will draw significant interest on the market if you decide to sell it.

For comparison, I (sadly) just sold my 2001 E55 with 46k miles (in excellent condition) after just a week on the market (Cars.com). I had five people call about the car and two solid offers in that one week. I thought it would take much longer to sell the car as I have ordered a 2011 E63 which will not arrive until mid-July. I wound up selling the car almost too quickly, as now I am one car short for another month. I had listed my E55 for sale for $17,500 and was able to sell the car for a price pretty close to my asking (I also had a separate set of AMG winter wheels and tires that went with the car which did help).

I would suggest listing your car for at least $19,000 and would wait for the right buyer at a price close to that. I hope this information is helpful.

While I am excited about getting a 2011, I still feel that the W210 E55 is one great car. It is fast, light on its feet, comfortable, spacious and still sharp looking even now. It remains the original AMG sports sedan.

Regards

This price has actually stayed steady for the last couple years. When I traded mine in I got 12K for mine with 115K miles on it.

I think I'm gonna be in the market for another soon

I think you should start at $14k.

2001 E55
I just (2 weeks ago) bought a 2001 E55 with ~46,400 miles on it. I paid $15,800 including 4 snow tires with AMG wheels to a private seller. It had the 2 tone seat package but, all else seemed inline with the standard features. I thought it was a good price based on the condition of other vehicles I have seen over the last year. The only issue I have had so far is that all 4 tires were noisy. I still think I got a good (not excellent) deal. Hope this helps you understand the mindset of a buyer.
