Okay, a weird one this cold morning. This warning light came on after start and stayed on with associated failure messages while I took my kids to school .

After returning home, shut off the car showed "2 Malfunctions" then restarted, the light is out and no problems indicated.

Was it just trying to say "Its Cold Outside"?

Common issue, the fix would be the brake lamp switch; however if you live in cold weather climate this code will pop up every so often. I've used the steering wheel trick (all the way left, all the way right, restart) to get rid of the lights several times already this year.

I changed the switch but I still get it every now and then. I just turn the car off and back on and it's gone.

I've driven my car in nasty cold here (temp was zero yesterday) with no issues so I wouldn't think it was because it was too cold. I mean come on....it can't be that cold there. It's North Carolina! I flew out to R-D for a job interview once in the winter where our airport was shut down because we had so much snow but out there I didn't even need a jacket.

Cold is a relative term! To North Carolinians anything below 20F is cold!

I recently changed my brake light switch (do a search I did a how to) and when it gets really cold it will come on here and there. I am waiting to pick up the beater at the shop. I can tell you this much I don't know how you guys drive this car in the freezing cold it just sux overall. I'm sure driving on 275/35/18 and below the recommended summer tire temp doesn't help. My car in general drives like crap...

P.S always buy your brake light switch MB it's cheap anyway $30
