custom air intake

been thinking for sometime now about a custom intake to free up a few bhp and give a better v8 growl to my car.
Now before anybody says about hot air intake temps under the hood its -12 oC where i live and anyway ive a 4" cold air intake from the front bumper to blast cold air onto the cone filter
And anyway once moving there is enough cold air under the bonnet for the intake to suck upon
so here is what ive set up. Its a huge stainless steel filter rated to over 500 bhp the intake pipe is a 86mm silicone pipe ( same as the maf)

results are.. up to around 4000 rpm there isnt much diffrence apart from a little more induction noise. but after 4k i can really feel the car pulling ALOT and i mean ALOT harder than before with the stock airbox

looks didnt come into it as it was built to do one job
which was to let the engine breath easier, and gain more bhp which it feels like it has done nicely

my car isnt a show car so im not worried what it looks like but id agree its not pretty looking
but the butt dyno says its well worth it anyway

i conveted my car to run on LPG (liquid petroleum gas) which is a common alternative in europe to normal gas
lpg costs half the price at $4.12 a gallon and gas is around $8.67 in the uk a gallon

so my car runs a seperate ecu for the lpg and 8 seperate injectors aswell
and the good thing is lpg is 110 ron which means more advanced timing can be run safely,

it can also run on normal gas or lpg at the flick of a button with the same performance on both fuels

Pretty cool! some people here in my country use LPG too but the cylinder walls cracks cause the LPG is to dry. the Gasoline acts like a part lubricant preventing this damage to the cylinder wall. but, here in my country the LPG runs like s..t i think in your country has a pretty good quality preventing damages to the engines

over 45,000 miles on my car with lpg no problems at all

some engines like fords zetec etc need a flash lube system to run lpg in order not to burn the valves out
but mercedes engines run 100% perfect on lpg if it is installed correct, infact im sill on the same sparkplugs since i converted to lpg with zero problems
