E55 with Dual factory tips - photoshop
I am sure its been done long ago but I thought I'd give it a go. Not sure I like it as much as the single side tips. Not my car. Got the pic on Google Images.

Looks good.
I think those tips look like the ones from the C55. It is definatley cosmetic, since the exhaust on the W210 E55 is very good from the factory. I agree with this forum that the AMS headers are the best upgrade to the exhaust. The muffler, cats, pipe diameter and bends are all excellent. Cheers!

He bought a M5 after the E55 greg something (nice guy) I think he got a lemon though, he spent tons and tons of money on repairs. He also has a few videos on Youtube.

*Out of all the mods, I would reallllly love to have this one but you loose out on the spare I believe.
Those E39s are nice and I considered them but the manual ended it for me. I can drive a manual easily but those days are behind me. Plus, in a drag, unless a manual is done right, the automatic has an advantage.
As far as the spare, I think the spare is from the trunk, not the bottom, so it is not given up.
Further, if one wanted to make a true dual, it could be done. It would require the right pipe to be completely routed to the other side and a dual tip put on each single pipe remaining on each side.
I MAY do this. I am really looking at the Dynomax VT's and replacing the stock muffler with two of them stacked vertically (side my side). I would also replace the resonator with a Dynomax Ultra Flow X.
I am after sound quality. There is really no substantial performance to be gained. A little louder, no resonance, with a snarl under hard acceleration but it's a tricky business. I still want the car sophisticated but a little more sporty.

Hey 503 /C43
Yes the AMS headers are "shorty" headers and not long tubes. I think I was just posting my opinion since I have inspected the exhaust on th eW210 E55 and the manifolds are the biggest weakness. I haven't heard how good longtubes are on the W210, but I'm sure it would be good too since it would remove the primary cats (one's closest to the motor?).
I think what I am saying is the exhausts on the AMg's are generally quite good. I rememeber mechanics in awe over the setup on my 1997 C36. I am debating AMS headers since I am not sure how long I will have my E55. Looking for a 2006 E55 Estate.
Take care guys.
Cheers!

I've looked at the manifolds and they are carefully cast with smooth, consistent diameter bores. Though they don't have independent runners, I think AMG gave these manifolds some serious consideration and my bet is that they are pretty well matched to the stock engine.
The AMS headers yield really nice results for what they are. They're a nice alternative for those who do not want to delete their primary cats with kleemann headers because of smog. They're also readily available still. Kleemann headers are not longtubes either, they're just longer shorties. Nobody makes longtubes for our cars. The stock headers were carefully designed with European smog laws in mind, therefore they're highly restrictive.
Yes shorties are nice. I've been busy but have been preparing to send a pair of mainfolds to MAC exhaust for some close matching to existing products. I think long tubes would really add some power to these cars. I gotta get to it.

THEY ARE A REAL PIECES OF CRAAAAPPPP
This manifold is pure junk! Upgrade with headers makes a biiigg difference in this carsFabio Daniel
Also, what happens at the collector? If flow can be substantially improved it seems that a larger exhaust pipe is needed too.
Looking at dyno evidence, I don't think I'll see it but I will take another look.
