Custom intake manifold

Custom intake manifold
I have been thinking about this for a while and wanted to now how possible it is. Would I have to run a standalone system? Could I just take it to a machine shop and let them get them dimension etc or get it designed then take it to shop. I want to have a section of my hood cut out and the top of the stainless manifold poking out with a rubber gasket around the cut in the hood so it would be real tidy and professional. Looking to spend $2500
Car is a 02 with 120k ( parktronic,nav ) just changed maf spark plugs and wires, tensioner pulled and idle pulley ( all myself with diy from the net love this car ) compression was good just has the sec cats and resonators cut out with no x pipe. Will def get a custom exhaust made with the manifold and a cam dont think I will need to change the injectors etc.

I like the how easy the w210 is to work on. I was hoping some one had some advice. I also remember reading a thread were they were talking how much a custom intake manifold for the m113 would let it breath an really open the motor up.
