Shattering metallic sound
Lately, as I shift to R, with my foot still on the brake, to back out of my driveway, I hear a shattering metallic sound. As soon as I let go the brake and proceed to reverse; the sound goes away. The sound is not present in P, but is in D with my foot on the brake. Obviously, something is loose down there. Specifics: 00 E55, 73,500mi; motor mounts and tranny fluid changed at 42,500. Opinions please.

Could be a vibration. R and D with the brake on load the powertrain. Releasing the brake begins to unload the powertrain.
Maybe a heat shield or something?
Does the car drive differently?

A vibration is exactly what it is. I'll get under the car in the morning to pinpoint the cause of the vibration. Your advice is much appreciated.
