Change oil level sensor or just the oil level sensor O-ring?
Hey guys!
I was wondering if you ever had to change the oil level sensor in your W210 e55?
Mine is leaking, very little, but I want to fix it since I'm going to do the oil change anyway.
My mechanic says that he needs to take the oil pan off in order to do that, which is true since I've seen it and then he needs to reseal the oil pan, since there's no seal for the oil pan. He quoted me 280$ for the job. 117$ for the OES oil level sensor and the rest labor. That seems a little high for me. I found the OES sensor online for 89.95$,free shipping and I'll get it.
The oil level sensor I have right now on the car works just fine, the only problem is the leak which is coming from the oil level sensor O-Ring,which can be bought separately for only 3.95$.
My question is : Should I change the whole sensor, which comes with a new O-Ring or just change the O-Ring on the old one?
I've attached some pictures to see how they look.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks guys.

I will give you my $.02. I have replaced both before for leaking oil. I have noticed on some of the sensors where I just replace the O-ring the leak
comes back. I have noticed the oil will also leak out of the connector sometimes. Just replace the entire sensor while you already have it apart. Good Luck!
