Does it make noise but not inflate? If so, you might have a leak. Two screws under the seat back will drop the back off, and you can check the hoses. Reattach with zip ties.
If it's not making inflating noises, you have a different issue.

You seem to have 2 different problems as the electronic switch is exactly that, electronic, where as the seats inflate with air. In my C43 the air pump is located in the trunk on the passenger side wall behind the wall cover. If the pump is running intermittently (it turns on and off several times within 15-20 minutes) it usually means you have a leak. Like suggested before I would start with taking the back panel off and checking those lines. Those only fill the bolster in the C43, I am unsure of the set up for the E55 but I would bet they are similar. There should be another line running to the bottom of the seats, check those out as well. I would check the 4 prong relay like I spoke about earlier as we had a member with a C43 with very similar symptoms and that's what it turned out to be.
I hope this helps
