Weird CD interruption- any ideas?
Ever since I took delivery of my 2002 E55, I have had an intermittent problem. The CD player will suddenly just stop playing for 5-10 seconds, then start again. It's not because I'm going over a bump; it can happen at a complete standstill. I have comand and the integrated phone, but the problem happens even if the phone is not plugged in. On the comand screen, I see the elapsed time on the CD stops; so it's not just an interruption in the audio signal. Play resumes exactly where it stopped, just a few seconds later.
Dealer has replaced the trunk mounted CD changer; did not help. I've put up with this for more than a year, but getting frustrated and want to get it fixed.
Anybody know the cause or cure?

Same problem
I've had the CD changer changed twice, and now they have changed the command center. The CD was cutting out, sometimes when it came back only one channel (usually the right) would play. Othertimes the voice on the Nav system will be distorted so badly you could not hear it. Now the problems have resurfaced so we are going to replace the command center again and see if that fixes the problem. Would appreciate any updates as you work on yours.

Thanks norb, but that's not it. I should have mentioned that I make sure I have no text messages, voice mail, missed calls, etc. I have also set my phone to never given me warnings. In fact, the interruption occurs even when the phone is not plugged in to the car at all.
