2000 E55 BAS/ESP and ABS lights come on
1) Is it normal that the brakes wear out every 15K - 20K miles? Do you think it is just the brake light gone bad?
2) Is the brake replacement so complicated that a regular auto-shop can’t do it? Does it have to be done by a certified Mercedes shop?
3) How do I know if all 4 rotors+pads need to be changed or if it is just the front/rear?
4) What quality alternatives to OEM brake parts are there and where can I buy them?
Thanks for your help,
Srydy

To answer your questions:
1.) your brakes should last longer than 15k-20k
2.) brakes are SIMPLE on the E55 (same as my C43) you could DIY or have any indy shop do it
3.) Feel the rotor, if you can feel a deep groove it is probably time for new rotors which are not cheap ($250+ a piece for the front rotors).
4.) if you search on the C43 forum there is a thread about cheap rotors. They come off of a C230k and are 4mm smaller in diameter if I remember correctly. There are several members that have gone this route. They are not 2 piece like the AMG rotors but they are 1/2 the price so if you are not all about performance they will work.
Hope this helps
