Hi guys

Just brought a 1999 e55 amg estate. I'm doing a full repaint and have a slight issue.
I have completely stripped the exterior including all lights etc. Now the window swon't
Operate at all.
This may sound crazy but does un plugging lights and mirrors stop the windows working.

Any help is appreciated.

Did you spill any liquid on the center console,where the shifter and windows command panel is?

I just removed the rear passenger door card and disconnected the window switch. As soon as I did the blinkers stopped working when I disarm the alarm (flash 1 time) but the blinkers work when I arm the alarm (flash 3 times).

This makes me think the electrical system is a sequenced system like a string of christmas lights, if one is disconnected it prevents stuff further down the line from working.

I will confirm when I reconnect the switch tonight.

Confirmed:

When I had the rear passenger window switch disconnected the blinkers didn't flash when I armed the alarm. As soon as I reconnected the switch the lights worked again.

I am betting this is why the windows won't work for you, you will need to reconnect the electronics to get it to work.
