Windshield question
Do E55s come with a blue tinted windshield like the rest of the windows? For some reason I recently recall reading that they did but can't remember for sure.
Mine has a couple of nasty rock chips (surprised they haven't grown) and a metric **** ton of small chips from daily driving. My insurance will replace it with an MB windshield for a $100 deductible and it won't count against me at all. $100 for a brand new windshield seems like a no brainer to me.

I believe that the windshield is tinted like the rest... I am also in need of a windshield, but I'm paranoid of it not matching the rest of the windows even if I have it done by a MB dealer.

I'm in the same boat as you guys, tons of really chips that make the windshield look dirty when the sun hits it. Would be good to know about the tinting before having it replaced.

When you go to the dealer have them run the VIN and then they will probably have to special order the correct windshield with the right sensor attachments and tinting.

Good evening folks,
Let me chime in with my recent experience.
The E55's (at least in the US) only came with two colours of windshield, blue or green with rain sensor, that's it. Your VIN will tell the insurance company which one. There are no correct aftermarket units for the E55. If you have clear in your E55, the PO or the insurance company replaced with a less expensive unit. And it wouldn't surprise me if the insurance company talked the PO into it, telling them there's an upcharge for the correct (tinted) unit. The part number would be 210 670 08 01, for blue, if I remember correctly.
The "bug" (data info, drivers side) should have a MB star showing also. If you replace, also make sure the shop installs a "Daimler" sticker in the lower passenger corner.
Remember, if you're using the deductible to pay for the new windshield, tell them to use the correct one, blue or green only, not clear. Your out of pocket cost is the same.
Good luck.
Mike K.
