Is the E55 brake booster specific to it?

My car could use a new brake booster because of an internal short that randomly throws the BAS/ESP light. I found out from my mechanic that it's $675 for one and it's a dealer only part.

I was wondering if anyone knows if the booster off of an E430/320 would work. I'm probably going to try and go used if I can find someone parting out an E55. It would be easier to find one if one from other 210 models would work.

I'll probably stop by my local dealer and see what they can do for me. One of the parts guys hooks me up with stuff at wholesale price, but I'm not sure if he'd do it for something that expensive.

You could call the dealership and ask for the part numbers for brake booster.

This is the current part number for the brake booster in our cars:

005 430 44 30

Hope it helps.

PS. The brake booster out of the 320 isn't compatible with our cars.

My mechanic gave me that same part number. Thanks for looking it up though.

That's more than I'm looking to spend. It only has issues every once in awhile, so I'm not willing to drop a **** load on it until I absolutely have to. I'm mainly looking for a used one for cheap, which is why I was wondering about compatibility.

I'm also moving soon and can't afford to spend that much ATM. I just dropped $450 on a pair of front tires a few weeks ago.

Any 210 or 208 chassis brake booster should be the same part number as long as it's a V8 non 4matic car post face-lift to make sure

Cool.

Sucks that Ebay one came off an E320.

The one on Ebay will fit your car...........

Look at the application chart on the listing, it clearly states all the cars it fits including the E55. As said above on from any W208-W210 will work. Maybe I'm missing something?

eBay is a hit or miss when buying parts... the 6 cylinder and 8 cylinders both have different brake boosters. Regardless of what the chart says, the part number is what is important.

I'm going off what Brandon says. He's a tech at an MB dealership so I trust him more than someone selling parts on Ebay.

I don't blame you, and I just saw the post about E320 booster not being compatible with our cars, shame, it was a good price if it was a good part.
