Introduction, forgot to do so...........
Hello everyone,
My name is Dan and I just bought a 2001 E55 Obsidian over charcoal/ruby interior, 65,820 miles. Ive wanted a car with a color combination like this for years and when I went to look at this one I knew I had to have it. The link below has pictures of it from the place that I bought from, haven't taken any of my own yet.

So far I've put tires on it, changed the oil, pulled all the wheels checked the brakes, front wheel bearings, spring perches(look good). Car looks to have been very well maintained, previous owner or someone flushed the brake system, put in new air filters and flushed the power steering. I think that the coolant was changed as well but can't verify so will put on the list of things to do in the near future.
Speaking of near future list, so far I have;
6000k bulbs for the HID's (on their way)
Trans flush and filter change
Trans connector plug
Stainless brake lines (have em need to install)
Ceramic brake pads (front in particular)
Euro lowering springs (a little further down on the list)
Adjustable camber bolts for the front (same as above)
Adjustable camber arms for the rear (same)
At that point I think I will have it where I want it, the car is more than fast enough for me so am leaving the engine alone, I love it as it is.

Hi Benztech
I don't mind, and, I paid to much for it(at least according to what some people here have said and Edmond's) and knew it going in, $15,000 and the only reason I did was the car as I mentioned above had the color combination I have wanted for a long time. The car is rare, they only made 653 of the 01's and rarer still with this interior plus low mileage.
I know that that has nothing to do with valuation of these cars, sad as that is, and, I'm really grateful for depreciation. I have the original window sticker which shows $76,320.00 new, fascinating to me that it's value dropped by over $61,000.00 again, grateful for depreciation.
I thought about waiting it out and selling my E300 privately taking the chance that E55 would still be there but I'm a bit obsessive compulsive and took the lose on the 300 and the high price on the E55, not smart, and, I've done way stupider things in my life.
Good luck selling your car, what are you asking for it?

Great looking car!
Congrats and welcome!
Remember,if you're satisfied and comfortable with the price you've paid then you've got it for the right price! Don't let anyone tell you otherwise!
BTW,some will tell you that you could've gotten a W211 E55 for the money...don't listen to that...what should you get...a W211 E55 with 130K miles that might have supercharger bearing problems, more complicated airmatic suspension in comparison with the W210,fuel leaks etc...or the simpler, low mileage natural aspirated tank of a car. I'll take the W210 E55 for 15K $.
Congrats and welcome!

Thanks Neanicu888,
I test drove a 04 e55, it was fun and the cost was $4000.00 higher 98,000 miles plus the complications you listed above. I agree with you, I chose the tank and it's simpler platform and easier/lower cost maintenance. Very happy with my choice.
