2001 E55 AMG - Pricing help.
Hi everyone,
I am seriously considering purchasing a 01 E55 AMG from a private party in my hometown. The car is in excellent shape, maintained meticulously, and has a grade of 9.5 Exterior, 9 Interior, always garaged, only 85K mi, One owner.
The Seller is asking $16,500. I think this is too steep and have checked KBB, Edmunds, Blackbook, and NADA. All which show a much lower value.
Any advice would be much appreciated in regards to determining an asking price that is still competitive but not a rip off. Thanks in advance guys!

Current: Cadillac CTS-V (V2), Chevy Cruze Past: E55k
I am not all that familiar with the W210 E55s, but you can probably find a similiar mileage W211 E55 for that 16.5K. In fact, I just sold my meticulous 2003 E55 to the dealership two weeks for that same exact price with 10K less miles.
Good Luck with whatever you do, but definitely don't pay more than 12K for that car.

I would tend to agree with Vander above, $11- 12,000 although, I just paid $15,000 for an 01 with 65,000 and have seen same year same mileage cars for sale for any where from $9500 up to what I paid. It seems to be all over the map. For me, I really wanted the car with the color combination that I got, it is a bit of a rare combination. They were originally asking $16,990 by the time we went round and round I got the car for the fifteen mentioned above. I think that I paid @ $1000-1500 more than I could have should I have chosen another car. I wasn't willing to let this one go.
For the mileage your looking at I would say that yes another $3000 plus off what he is asking would put you in the market. Unless you are really really wanting this particular car I would look around some more. Their is something to be said for one owner with all service records from new, this would mean allot to me and would be willing to pay a bit of a premium for, and, I think the asking price is to high.

Below is an example of one that just ended on the bay, three thousand more miles on it than the one you are looking at, shows really nice in the pic's though their looks to be a small tear in the front drivers seat upper bolster. They have listed this one twice now and it hasn't sold so far, least not on the bay. They have a buy it now of $9750.00

E 63S Wagon Renntech, E55 Renntech, SL65, SL 55 030, ML, bunch of old ones--they come, they go...
Unfortunately....
many sellers are still in denial of the real dollar numbers on 210 and 211 55's. Have you noticed how many are offered at these large numbers, and how many are still sitting? Both are great cars to drive, and a lot of fun for the money. But i would tend to agree--any 210 that is in 211 price territory is in rarefied air. It would have to absolutely be THE one....miles, color, history, etc. And don't forget the worst 210 demon: rust. I would not buy one without putting it in the air. That being said, things are worth what people will pay for them. I would make sure you looked it over top and bottom, but I wouldn't even take those steps unless you felt like here was some substantial room in the price. To me, only the very nicest 210, with right miles, color, and NO rust, would come close to the middle teens. Just my opinion, from losing a lot of my own money learning...Flame away.

2001 E320 Wagon, 2006 LBZ Silverado, 2007 E63 (sold), 2001 E55 (sold)
I'd say $10,000-$12,000.
I totally agree. I check CL several times a week to see if any new ones pop up. There have been some that have been on there for months now because they're just asking way too much for the car. The value on these things has tanked.
I'd be happy to get $7,500-$8,000 out of mine if I sold it.

Congratulations Julian, I think you got a really good deal on that one. Have you picked it up yet? If so how does she run? Good luck with the car.

Julian,
I'm curious, even from AutohausAZ, new Xenon headlights are about $1500 for the pair. Are your's in that bad shape and/or can't be repaired?
