Central Locking Pump

I have problem with door locks. Sometimes they work sometimes not and it becomes annoying. My mechanic says it needs new central locking pump. New one is more than $500. I checked ebay and it looks like I can get used one for little over $100. Is it reasonable to get used one or they wear out quickly and I should go for brand new pump. What are your opinions?

You would go for an used item from ebay, but you need one with the same part # or newer replacement part #, they comes with different set-up (ortho-seats, break windows sensors, moving sensor input for alarm, etc) finding a unit with the same part # you can program it without any issue

Fabio,
thanks for the info.
Any idea what could be right part number for 2002 E55? Or how can I find it out?
