Transmission Dipstick
Just wondering if someone could clarify something I read about changing the oil in the transmission?
A couple of posters have mentioned getting a new dipstick.
Why is that? Isn't there one fitted already?

Hi Cheezels,
their is not a dip stick from the factory, their is a dipstick tube with a cap on it that is sealed from the factory with a breakaway clip, black if original and red if the seal has been removed for service. You can find dipsticks on the bay. I paid @ $25.00 for one. It is not a dipstick that you install and leave on the car, it is strictly for checking level of fluid.
You then re-use the cap and buy the retainer clips from the dealer, they are cheap. Be sure the car is up to operating temp and running when checking the fluid, the dipstick has marks on it like any other, the only difference being that the dipstick shows where the fluid should be at 80c when at operating temp or 25c (IFIRC) when cold. The dipstick tube is on the passenger side rear of engine.
How many miles on your car?
