Spark Plug Renewal Interval

Just been searching for an answer to this, but couldn't find too much.

My manual service booklet has a recommended interval listing for serval different engines.

111 ML - 30 to 45000 klms
104, 111, 166 except 111 ML - 50 to 70000 klms
112, 119, 120 - 90 to 110000 klms

Okaaay, which engine is in the 1999 E55. (Or where can I look to find this out?)

The V8 that goes in the E55 is a M113 engine.
You can now look in your manual for the spark plug change interval of M113 engines...
But if you ask me,I'd say with today's technology, spark plugs could go as much as 100.000 miles, which is 160.900 km.
But let's say you want to be cautious,so you can change them around 70.000-80.000 miles, which is 112.630-128.720 km.

The spark plugs need to be changed every 8 years or 100,000 miles

I thought Mercedes newest recommendation was 5 years or 60,000 miles, whatever comes first?

Mercedes recommended every 5 years or 100k... I don't doubt that they changed it to 60k.

OEM spark plugs in our cars are NGK Platinum plugs. Not sure about the 1999 engine but I know 2000+ came with NGK's.

Just ordered my Bosch plugs and a coil pack (think my number 7 is bad according to the code it threw). Can anyone tell me where the number 7 is if I am looking at the motor? Right or left, which one counting from the front.

Thanks!

Mercedes cylinders are numbered, you can't miss it.
But looking from the front of the car, cylinder number 7 is on the right side(driver side) 2nd to last cylinder towards the firewall.

Get the tool for the spark plugs. It will make your changing the plugs so much easier. Here's a link to my experience with chnaging the wires and plugs.

I think my car still have the original plugs since year 2000 and now has 97K miles, I guess it's about time to change the plugs.
