Additional header dyno run info

I will do some additional exhaust modifications in the near future.

More detailed pictures. Including the HP and Torque gain at 68.5 MPH, engine RPM increase, and evidence that the ECU is adapting.

You are welcome. My curiosity of this header modification, is probably shared by many W210 E55 owners. Glad that I am helping out the community.

I am on my way to do the next step: remove the secondary cats, remove the resonator, add an x-pipe, and I am actually contemplating replacing my primary cats with some high flow ones. (Also wondering if I should address that crimped driver's side down pipe prior tothe primary cat. It bothers me)

I am thinking of doing these modifications my self. The problem is that I have to purchase stainless steel wire for my MIG welder. For that price, I can get an exhaust shop to do all the exhaust modifications.

I would weld in a mandrel bent 2.5 inch stainless steel pipe on the driver's side.

A little more than 10 peak hp is not great but the midrange increase is really nice. Makes me think you will see some more power when you free some flow after the headers as you have planned.

I am certain of it. I would bet that the restriction(s) are the catalytic converters.

We shall see. I will modify and do the dyno testing soon.

Curious, did you just put in new filters? K&N or AFE Pro Dry S? These will definitely make a huge impact on your gains. I have to clean out my Pro Dry S as I can feel a little sluggish in the mid range acceleration. Good thing about the Pro Dry S, you can use a vacuum cleaner and suck out the dust and dirt and run it thru a water hose and let it air dry. Don't need any oiling.

New MANN filters back in March, along with new spark plugs. 6 months old.
Here is what they looked like on 09-26-13. Looks like I could use new ones. LOL

One month and 11 days with the new headers.
Loving the product. No ticking. No gasket blow outs. No problems. No nothing.
Sound great at WOT or even partial throttle.

Planning my exhaust mods now.

I was driving home tonight and this short bed full size GMC truck came right behind me. In the dark he probably notice my rear end with the AMG badge. He stomp on his gas and a huge growl went by me showing off that he has some kind of V8 headers under that hood😎. I let him pass me by a car ahead and stomp on my gas....he must have **** when he hears my pipes coming down next to him. Never in a million years would he thought my exhaust could sound louder then his at WOT😜

This is the kind of stuff that I love about my car which always put a smile on me after a long day at work.😘👍

This is yet another post which has convinced me to get my headers modified/upgraded. I need to check what the shipping costs would be to the UAE for these eBay units. After working out the numbers, I'll see if its cheaper to have my own header/down-pipe system fabricated by one of the desert race build garages out here, or take the eBay option.

Thank you cudaized!

You are very welcome.

I do get to you part of the world, but I do not want to promise that I could hand deliver them to you. Or at least mail them from some where closer like Qatar or Kuwait. It was just a thought....and I don't know when I'll be over there again. (Probably the day after you order and they mail them to you, LOL)

Perhaps your best bet is to contact them directly?

Make sure they're correct before having any machining done or actually installing them. I don't know if you read the whole thread, but one of mine did not fit (for and AMG V8, just not in a W210) and I wasted $150 having the flanges machined flat on them (one needed .040 removed). Luckily my roommate was doing the install at his shop so the only labor I paid there was lunch and a 12 pack of PBR.

I don't think you realise how many of my emotions you just played with in that paragraph! Lol... A hand delivery or even shipping in the GCC would save me a lot of money and worry!

I'll check the link

Over $400 for shipping according to their calculator. That's as much as the headers themselves Lol

It's going to be a custom job here I think...

If you indeed go the custom route please take some pics along the way, if possible. I would love to see what the fabricator come up with.

I have followed the thread from its first post It did concern me reading about the difficulties you had with the headers you ordered, I found myself trying to imagine what I would have done if I were in your shoes. You were able to find a resolve, although you did lose money So I am definitely proceeding with any modification I choose to do with caution. I am pretty sure I will have a fully custom header fabricated, that way I can monitor build progress and prevent fault, I hope I'm going to a garage tomorrow and one on Saturday. Tomorrow is to discuss fabrication/mechanical services, dyno running, and tuning services. Saturday is for the de-cat/resonator delete/x-pipe/high-flow primary cat install inspired by ddb, snooozie and cudaized

Try do a search for "AFE 31-10084 Mercedes E55" on eBay and the filters should come up for your car. The lister might not have put all the year models on the listing. Before you buy, I would message the seller and tell him/her for the model of your car just to be sure.
