Starting Issues

For the past few weeks I wanted to get rid of my car because it was having trouble starting. Did some research on this site and pointed me to the Crankshaft Position Sensor. I had that replace and the car was still having issues starting. My second guess was the battery since the car still had the original mercedes battery from 2000. Replace the battery a few days ago and now the car is back to normal! Finally loving the car again. I was also getting an error with the BAS/ABS. That went away with the battery replacement. Thank God it wasn't anything big. Just need new brakes and Sparkplug and she will be like new again. Thanks all for the information.

I had a Indy Mechanic look at it and he said it was the ignition switch relay, which cost an arm and a leg to replace. Glad we have these forum to verify the issues we have with these cars or else I would have taken his word for it.

Glad you were able to solve your problem fairly easy. I guess, when it fails, always try to do the easy and cheaper solution first and hope it solve the problem. A 13 year old battery....that's amazing. The last time I heard of a long life battery was my dad's 240D. He had 8 years with the same battery before he change it. This was a Sears Diehard marine battery.

I replaced the original battery in my Durango (which I bought new) last year. It made it 10 years which isn't bad.
