Help identify this car?

I know this may be a long shot, but I have found a very clean 2001 E55 AMG locally for sale. I have not been able to open it up and personally look at it, but have done a walk around, and gotten some info from the dealer.
They claim it is a one owner car, and that it has 249,000 MILES on it.. I think they may be confusing it for kilometers though.
It is incredibly clean in, out, and under.. I would believe someone telling me it has 5,000 miles..

I'm not really new to "high maintenance cars" so buying a higher mileage Mercedes that appears to have been very well cared for does not scare me off, however I just want to scrounge up as much info on it as I can.

I noticed some small decals on the back door windows that may help identify it, and hopefully the previous owner. It looks like this car was very well cared for, and I would like to find out some history on it if at all possible. Please take a look at the pictures below, and if you know the car, lets talk! Please excuse the poor pictures, it has been cloudy and raining for a week strait here and I was using my phone. Thanks a bunch!

If you take pictures of the front of the car we would be able to give you a better idea as to year, in 00 or 01 they did a facelift on the car and it looks much nicer than the 99.

I guess I should have been a little more clear, I know the car is a 2001 etc..
I was just having a bit of hope that since there really was not that many of these built, that I may find someone who recognizes the car it self by the decals on the back windows ( the Road America one ) etc. I posted on here because the chances of stumbling upon its previous owner are much higher than that of trying to find the previous owner of say a ford explorer lol

Just a small update.. I was able to look the car over today, open it up, start it up etc.. No test drive yet as it's still in the "inspection" stage at the dealership. The only problem I could find was that the valve covers are leaking a slight amount. Every power accessory, display, etc works as it should, I could find absolutely NO rust anywhere, all of the seats function as they should and the leather is still soft and suple with no cracks or even a hint of wear. The salesmen informed me that the car does have full service records... Hopefully early next week I will be able to take it for a spin and make my final decision.

249,000 miles is not a common thing if you drive it daily for 12 years. The main part of looking at the vehicle is that it has been taken care off- regular maintenance like oil change (check the oil and see how dark it is), check the brakes by pressing on them to see how far in you have to push the pedal, engine gasket leaks, listen to the engine while idling to hear if there are any miss fire, etc...

Sounds like the body is solid and no rust, which is a good thing....anyway good luck on your find...

Thanks for the reply snoozie! When I started the car, it fired right up and idled smooth and quietly, no odd noises of any type. I did notice that the valve cover gaskets are seeping a little bit, but that is an easy fix.

The oil looked new, trans fluid looked like new as well and had no burnt smells. The brake fluid and power steering fluid all looked good as well. I was not able to drive it, but I did put it into each gear while parked, no clunks or thuds, and the brake pedal was nice and solid, peaking through the wheels the brakes look to be 75% or better.

This car is really looking like a good buy despite the high miles. It was obviously someones pride and joy for a long time, and would be mine for a long time as well.

That's quite impressive, hard to find a very nice w210 in the Midwest. Mileage is high but as long as maintenance was done on time, these things will go on forever!

Nice find!

I did end up picking it up this morning. After driving it and seeing how well it was cared for, the higher miles do not worry me a bit. I look forward to a long and adventurous time with this new to me AMG.

Thanks Snoozie! We have only had it for 12 hours so far and it has already put smiles on our faces, and a couple of giggles from pushing the skinny pedal down.

There is one minor issue, I have a "defective lamp" message on the dash, yet all of the lights are functioning properly... It doesn't really bother me, but I would like to get rid of the message.

Go thru each one of them and check the fittings...I had a crack bulb holder which the previous owner or the dealer must have broken it and use some plaster to put the bulb in and it throw the light error...

Congrat ! but highly recommend to do all fluid change. Tranny oil, cooling... etc... even the spark plugs. I don't think any W210 transmission will last more than 300K. They all need to get rebuild.

that's good to know After having all diesel engine MBs I am very satisfied with this gasoline one. I had a diesel 240D inherit from my dad many years ago which had 450k on the odometer.
