Lower Control Arm bushings - replace DIY?
#2
I thought about replacing the bushings only but the challenge was too great for the time I had to do it.
I had both lower control arms replaced at once with Meyle HD. Most shops I called recommended replacing the whole assembly (not necessarily aftermarket) as well because it came with the ball joint and the bushing was installed during the manufacturing process leaving less room for error. While I was there, I went ahead and replaced the upper ball joints too though that was not a necessity, I wanted to save on the labor and not have to rework and repay again for labor later.
You will need a bushing press, spring compressor at least. There are mixed reviews on poly bushings. Some say they tighten the feel but are not durable. Others love it. YMMV

Thank you.
I have decided to go ahead and do the job myself. It seems relatively easy to do.
I have another car with the Polyurethane bushings. Very solid and has been on the car for the last 20 years. Still work great. Great for a stiff suspension on a muscle car, but not so great for our smooth riding Benz.
