Question 2002 E55- Rear Lights

I noticed that when i turn on my fog lights the rear passenger light does not work. I remove the lens and noticed that its not wired ! rear driving side works fine. Not sure if this a mistake. I'm the second owner. i bought the car 2005, the car is beautiful and drives great, not sure what to do ?

I hope what I'm about to say is addressing your concern, because I'm a little confused about what you're describing:

Please define what you're referring to as the "rear passenger light".

First things first: In the FRONT you have TWO (one on each side of the car) and in the REAR you only have ONE SINGLE fog light. When you pull the headlight switch out once, a little green light should appear at the lower left corner just below the switch. That indicator lets you know the front lights are illuminated. Then you pull the light switch out again, and a yellow light appears, indicating that the SINGLE rear fog light is illuminated. (Please note that it is not possible to have the rear fog light on without having the front fog lights on first.)

AGAIN - there is only ONE rear fog light installed from the factory.

Please refer to the attached photos and let me know if this helps

2002 E55 AMG Obsidian Black with Charcoal
Factory built this way. Only one Fog lamp in the rear.

Someone told me it was the German law.
