Bilstein shock question

Is there a difference between the early E55 W210 shocks(95-99),,vs the (00-02)shocks?...My car is an 02 but I was sent the 95-99 as they said the later ones are on back order for a month..I was told the early ones fit exactly the same and have the same specs....These are the B8 Sport shocks..Thanks..

if i'm not mistaken, i went through this from the opposite direction. was having
to choose between Bilstein HD for E320 v6. my car is 1999 and noted that the
part # was different for the 2000-02. turns out the later two years was simply
an inch shorter. compression and rebound dampening rates were same i.e.
approx 10% more dampening then regular grade shock.

since i had lowered my suspension a scootch, I opted for the 00 and verified
that it was indeed 1" shorter than 1999 length.

all things being equal, i wouldn't think that the length difference would be an
issue....that is, unless you've lowered your ride by more than 1.5"

It will be lowered on H&Rs with #1 pads all around..Im hoping the earlier rear shocks dont have any negative effects with the way the car sits and rides..

You will have about 4 inches of ground clearance when done. That can be a pain to your front apron so watch out going in and out of driveways and road crossing. The Hand Rs are a stiff set up especially with the Bilstein sport shock which is designed for a 1.5 inch drop. With 18 inch rims the suspension takes up alot more of the absorption duties so the overall ride is stiff when compared to stock. The short answer is the Bilstein Sport shock is for rides that are lowered 1.5 inches. that is what you want to have otherwise you will cause internal damage to the other shock mentioned.
