what tires would you recommend
Im going to install new rubber on my E55 since the previous owner installed wrong size tires. Its currently running 245/45s continnental contis ssr. Im leaning towards the michelin pilot super sports or bf goodrich force comp 2. What other tires would u guys suggest? Im also considering running 285s for the rears although i havent found much info to see if thats a good idea or if i should stick with 275s

Im running w211 E55 wheels on mine and to my understanding are the same size/width as w210 monoblocks?? Pilot super sports seem like the best choice so far but Im also now considering the bridgestone s04 pole position. Seems like a great tire too as its rated just slighty behind the pss but $200 cheaper per set. although it doesnt offer the michelins 30k warranty ( 15k on our staggered setup) im really just looking for the best dry/wet traction and high speed stability

Me too...
I bought Pilot Super Sports for my set up - and I'm happy. They are quiet, ride well, and seem to stick very well - although I haven't gotten to push them in the corners much as yet.

I would do the again, but I would like to try another tire such as Vredestein or Continentals perhaps. Still deciding.
How beneficial is the 15K warranty on for the PSS?

MitchB what size rear tires did u go with? And that seems to be my main concern with the s04. I just dont know how long they will last while the pss seem to last up to 20k im normal driving and the pss seems to have the extra grip needed when trying to launch our cars . The michelin warranty simply gives u credit towards ur next set IF ur tires have worn evenly and they are done before 15k. Havent been able to find out any more info but ill look into the warranty

On my stock Monoblocks I ran 245 and 275 on rears. I have aftermarket 8.5 and 9.5 rears running same tires.
S04 do seem soft but I never experienced lack of grip. I think if i granny drove I could get 20k out of the Bridgestones.

Im still torn between these two tires. While i know the michelins are a little better the S04 seems just as good and 200 less. And seein as how ill probably never take it to the track i probably will never see the difference between the two. Hows the wet traction on the S04? This is the only area where i keep seein the PSS having a real advantage

Stick with 275s
I have Michelin pss, great tires, but keep in mind your climate. I'm in the Chicago area, and even though I don't drive my e55 in the winter, the PSSs are hard as hockey pucks in colder weather, early spring and late fall for me.. I'd say under 60f they lose a lot of what you buy them for. When it's hot, they're great.

Yea its seems im going with the michelin as i can get them from discount tire for only 100 per set more than the s04 and bein as its the best dd tire out there its worth it. And i live in idaho so i understand in cold weather they wont be great but we get about 7 months of warm weather.

I put Continentals DWS, front and rear. Drove 600 miles home, torrential "Pineapple Express" rain in the Lower Mainland, slush and rain in the Fraser Canyon, heavy snow in the Thompson Canyon, cold dry compact from 100 Mile House north. Never had one complaint, never lost control at speed limit. Left two Audis and a whack of SUVs somewhere back there. Would buy them again.

I did consider the continentals too as they are better "all season" tires but seein as im not driving the E55 in the snow or in icy conditions i want a more performance oriented tire but i do agree that if i didnt have a 4wd for bad weather the continentals would be a better choice

My car isn't a DD and the winters aren't bad as far as snow and ice, but it does get cold, occasionally. I could easily get by with a summer tire, and have done so on many cars. For this car I went with Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3's. I know all season tires are a compromise, but these are fantastic. I'm not tracking the car but I have a lot of fun with it, even when it is really cold. Summer tires can be very sketchy in the cold even when the roads are dry. So the PS A/S 3's are a great compromise for me.

I will never buy another tire besides the Bridgestone Potenza RE 970AS Pole Position. I drive them all year round, and I don't put my car up for the harsh Chicago winters. I drive them with complete confidence, and have done so for the past 3 years that I've owned the car. They're a rock solid all weather tire.

I still havent decided as i am waiting to see if i can find monoblocks first. In the meantime i been trying to find info on the continental DW. Nice tire but seems u loose alot of dry traction compared to the S04 and PSS. It will be one of those two forsure

PSS Promise Plan
http://www.michelinman.com/mediabin/...omise_Plan.pdf
So does this mean I get a pro rata based upon 3 years or 15K miles instead of 6 yr 30K?
The rears of my S04 are at the bars after less than a year. So how would the proration work if I had the PSS warranty?

Im guessing the 6 years still stand but only 15k on staggered setups since tires cannot be rotated. I still think its a good deal since most of its competitors dont offer milage warranty at all. Since i dont think you put more than 15k on ur tires in a years time u would get credit towards ur nxt set if they wer michelins. Im not sure how much credit but im guessing enought to were 1 tire would be almost free

How did you negotiate that?
