Fabio - I'm going to guess that mine is some sort of Euro-Nippon combination. It says "sport" on the car, spec sheet says "avantgarde", but there's no chrome rings on the dash, but it does have maple, but not black. I can't find any specifics about what it is supposed to have, so I decided to just go with it. (I was going to insert some pics of the maple console, but they seem to have disappeared from my album.)

 

Sorry for the giant size pic, guess I didn't size it right. By the way, if anyone can help identify the "mystery" buttons, it would be greatly appreciated.

 

The wood trim looks different than the ash tray below it.
It looks like burl wood, and the ash tray looks like black birdseye maple.

 

I think you nailed it Solo. Now that you've given it a name, it is easily identified. I had wondered why the ashtray, the console and the steering wheel were so different. I previously thought it was aging and sunlight. But now, I think you are right about the burl. Seems strange that there would be two types of wood, unless the one console panel had been changed out somewhere along the line.

 

The color around the comand unit looks like it has been replaced at some point in time.

You know, now that I think of it, in mine the shifter surround is a lighter color wood than the rest of the interior, the dash, cupholder, etc is all the dark bird's eye maple. Maybe the shifter surround piece has been replaced at some point?

 

Not necessarily. In my car, the shifter surround trim used to looks lighter compared to the rest of the pieces - before replacing it of course. Also, the front seats adjustment wooden trim.
It was exposed to the sun more I guess .

So how do we know which interior package we have? Solo wing's looks almost identical to mine, except for the steering wheel and the command centre. Mine doesn't have the controls on the centre portion, but it does have the wood like ob1kenobi's. Are these just differences in the model years?

 

Solo wings car is a facelift model so he will have a different steering wheel, shift gate (tiptronic), door handles, gauge cluster , etc. All e55s I have seen that are not designo had the dark birds eye maple.

 

I'm sure they are birds eye mapple, but they are exposed to the sun and they are faided. I see to many W210 with different wood fade cause the sun. Now, we have in the shop an S500 with burlwood interior. the center large wood turns almost white at all and the other pieces are gent used but looks like new :S expose to 9yrs outside

You would see just under the A/C vents the wood is dark/black and they are fayded cause the sun. You have a very strange command with A/C integrated control is hard to find this examples

The rest of the world spec'd E55s didn't come with integrated navigation on 99 models. Pretty cool and definitely rare.

Solo Wing: how big is the screen on your aftermarket headunit? Looks nice! I've been considering getting one with all the modern features.

It's a 6.95" Kenwood DNX890HD. Fit's perfectly with no modification, and the surround trim(came with the HU) adds to a stock install look.
I probably paid for the sound system more than 1/2 The car's $$$
